Kids are born explorers,
We foster growth by letting them continue to do so.
We place a strong emphasis on social and emotional development, helping children build emotional literacy and form meaningful relationships with both peers and teachers. Through daily interactions and guided experiences, children learn how to express themselves, navigate their feelings, and connect with others in positive, respectful ways.
Upon entering the classroom, we hope that you will find it feels like home! Our room was designed with neutral/earth tone colors that embrace a feeling of comfort and safety. Children have ownership over their space, with accessible materials and visuals intentionally placed at child-height. You will often find the Evergreen children moving materials around the classroom as they take control of their own learning and demonstrate respect for their environment.

Learning With Your Hands In The Dirt
With direct access to a covered outdoor space, the Evergreen classroom seamlessly extends into nature. You’ll often find Evergreen children joyfully playing, enjoying meals, or even napping outdoors! We love to explore nature – whether it is purely observing or getting our hands dirty with mud as we dig up creepy crawlers and wiggly worms. We believe that nearly any activity, play, or learning experience that happens indoors can be thoughtfully adapted for the outdoors—offering children fresh air, freedom to move, and a deeper connection to the world around them.
Our love for the outdoors includes seasonal gardening, where children plant, grow, and harvest their own vegetables. They enjoy tasting what they’ve grown, building healthy eating habits and a deeper connection to their food.
The Evergreen teachers are adept at facilitating meaningful art and sensory experiences that promote creative expression, fine motor and pre-writing skills, and body regulation. We strongly believe in the process-over-product approach to art. We sometimes use our feet and hands as painting tools, or even throw/drop paint from various heights!
