Outside Space

The Children first team shares a play and nature-based philosophy.  We believe that children learn through and need a lot of outdoor play.  You will more than likely see one of the staff members barefoot in the grass, or investigating an insect that a child has found.  Teachers are just as passionate about learning all there is to know about the outdoors as the children do.

All classrooms are outside everyday, in all types of weather (besides extreme weather).

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”

― Alfred Wainwright, A Coast to Coast Walk

This year (2021) we embarked on our goal to reach 1000 hours outside. Taken from the 1000 hours outside website: “The entire purpose of 1000 Hours Outside is to attempt to match nature time with screen time. If kids can consume media through screens 1200 hours a year on average then the time is there and at least some of it can and should be shifted towards a more productive and healthy outcome!
